7月9日(木)にGSコース2・3年生が平和教育学習の目的で福山のホロコースト記念館を訪問しました。訪問の様子はホロコースト記念館のFacebookでも紹介していただいています。まず,館長の大塚信氏より,アンネ・フランクさんの父であるオットー・フランクさんとの出会いと「日本の人々にホロコーストを伝える」というライフワークに至る思いや現在の活動について聞かせていただきました。その後,館内展示の説明をしていただきました。今回の訪問で,生徒たち一人ひとりは,自分たちの世代が中心となって,世界中の差別をなくし,恒久的平和を達成しなければならないという大きなメッセージを受け止めることができました。
最後にこの施設のボランティア団体 Small Handsの皆様が増やし続けている「アンネ・フランクの形見」という名のバラの苗木をいただきました。学校で大切に育てて、平和についての思いを一層強めていきます。
生徒たちからのフィードバック:
- I was able to think more deeply about what happened after seeing the items in the museum.
- I had watched movies and read about Anne Frank before, but was moved on an emotional level at the museum.
- I was surprised that Mr. Otsuka had actually befriended Anne Frank’s father.
- I cannot forget the 6 containers with 1.5 million beads, one for each child killed in the Holocaust.
- I want to think now more deeply about how to eliminate discrimination here in Japan.
- I was moved to know the acts of saving jewish people done by Mr. Chiune Sugihara and others.
