The purpose of the event was to give Takeda students an opportunity to learn a bit of Chinese language, culture, and to make friends with similar interests. This will be a weekly event, and for the initial session, ChoKai and Daido san prepared presentations about the regions in China from which they hail, Xi An and Halbin. Upon seeing the presentations, students commented that, \u201cI was impressed by the rich history, and really wanted to try the food from Xi An. It looked delicious!\u201d and, \u201cthe winter events of Halbin seemed very fun. I\u2019d like to go there!\u201d ChoKai and Ichika did a wonderful job and we look forward to next week, when they will teach us some useful Chinese words and phrases. Appreciation of other cultures and student-centered learning are hallmarks of our global studies program.
