Writing about what social issue was important to them, the students could find out what their counterparts on the other side of the world cared about. Some of the issues they had in common, like protecting the environment and minority rights, while others were very different. Popular topics for American students included gun rights, abortion, and the boarder wall with Mexico. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\">\u3000This essay exchange was also a good opportunity for Takeda students to experience \u201cacademic\u201d writing, as many of the Kansas students are preparing for their college entrance exams. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\">\u3000\u201cI really enjoy connecting my students with other students from around the world, especially from my native Kansas.
